Height: 30-40’   

Spread: 15-20’ (very pyramidal, dense)     

Hardiness: 3-6 (All of Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nebraska). 

Foliage: ½”- ¾”, dark bluish green       

Growth Rate: Slow, 6-12” normally      

Common Ailments: Usually in good health

Seed: 1½” rounded brown cones. Seed source is the Black Hills area of South Dakota.

Preferred Soil: ph 5-6.5, moist but good adaptability  

Attributes: Quickly becoming a very popular tree because of its adaptability and sustained compact growth habit. Makes a quality specimen tree. Should be grown in places where fast growth isn’t essentially required.
